About the GHL Summit 2025

Organised by MentaPulse Africa, Africa’s pioneering employee mental health and wellbeing advocacy organisation, the maiden edition of the Ghana Health & Labour (GHL) Summit, will unite government, employers, trade unions, health agencies, international partners, and the private sector to confront the intersection of workplace culture, employee wellbeing, and the rising burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

NCDs such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease now account for over 43% of deaths in Ghana, with workplace stress and unhealthy work environments contributing to this risk (Health Policy and Systems, 2024).

Despite the staggering numbers, Ghana’s current workplace culture is turbocharging the problem through sedentary routines, unhealthy food environments and psychosocial stress. The result is a decline in productivity, increased absenteeism, attrition of highly skilled workers and ballooning public health costs.

This October, the GHL Summit will convene high-level policy dialogues, technical working sessions, and sector-specific panels, offering a rare opportunity to spotlight the connection between workplace culture, employee mental health, and Ghana’s rising NCD burden.
