We exist because someone had to.

A diagnosis. A decision. A movement.

In 2022, MentaPulse Africa’s founder, Manuel Koranteng, received a diagnosis that stopped him in his tracks: Type 2 Diabetes, at a stage in his career when he was dedicating every waking hour to his role as a broadcast journalist at JoyNews, one of Ghana’s most prominent media organisations.

He had been, by every professional measure, a success. But in the relentless pursuit of his career, his health had become the silent casualty. The diagnosis was not just a medical event. It was a mirror held up to a pattern he recognised in colleagues, friends, and professionals across every sector in Ghana: the quiet erosion of personal health in the service of professional achievement.

That experience became the foundation of MentaPulse Africa, an organisation built on the belief that the line between career success and personal destruction should never have to be crossed.

Mission

Our mission is to transform African workplaces into environments that actively protect and promote the mental and physical wellbeing of every employee. We pursue this through advocacy, evidence-based programming, policy engagement, and public education, building the systems, tools, and culture shifts that make lasting change possible.

Vision

We envision a continent where workplace wellbeing is embedded in organisational culture, national policy, and professional identity, where employee wellbeing is treated not as a personal weakness, but as a shared responsibility and a strategic priority.

"I built MentaPulse Africa because I nearly lost my health, and I know I am not the only professional who has. The system asks for everything. We are here to make sure it gives something back."
