Board Member

Helena Baaba Botchway is a board member of Mentapulse Africa. She is a mental health nurse with 10 years of clinical and regulatory experience in nursing and midwifery.

As a Mental Health Advocate, she has used her knowledge and skills to create awareness of Mental Health among pupils and students from Junior high schools through to Senior High School and Tertiary levels via face-to-face interaction during visitations to over 40 schools targeting over 10000 students.

The same face-to-face interaction was adopted for the creation of awareness in our various churches which targeted over 5000 congregants.

This awareness creation campaign was extended to online education on various topics in Mental Health via various social media platforms reaching approximately over 3000 persons.

Again, through her advocacy, she has led my team to visit over 10  communities to champion Mental Health campaigns and organize physical and mental health screening exercises.

Reintegrating mentally ill patients back into the community was a topmost priority as a Mental Health Advocate, hence she dedicated the 14th of February of every year to visiting mental patients who have been discharged and doing well in the community in their homes where they interact with them, spend quality time and offer them hampers.

This is to boost their self-esteem in the community and help reduce stigma in the community. This has benefitted over 50 patients.
